Individualism is where American belief is focused on the independence of the individual, Equal Opportunity is where it is usually based off merit of those who have earned such honors and whether or not everyone has earned that opportunity or not. Free Enterprise is a belief that enables freedom of choice and operation on a citizens own terms. Rule of law is what is right and wrong in terms of the law.

Individual choice plays a huge part in voter turn out because it is mainly up to that individual to vote or not. No one can force him/her to vote so usually it is a lack of motivation that causes this low voter turnout. State laws cannot force a person to vote but they can help to make voting more accessable.

For example, the concept of the rights to #!!##!!##!!# Marriage has been brought up and while most Republicans disagree with the concept, Democrats seem to be more open to the idea.
