To assess the students on how well they have mastered the state standards
April 19-28, 2017
Multiple choice, open ended constructed responses, and a writing component in response to a reading passage

No later than 9:00 am.

Something nutritious with protein that will give your child the necessary energy and brain power to work efectively.

Arrive to school on time promptly before 7:50 am. Students arriving after the test has begun will be redirected to the media center unitl the testing session is over.

Offer encouraging words, promote a positive attitude, help them relax and stay calm.

Before, between, and after testing sesions if needed.

Students will only need #2 pencils which will be provided by the school.

The test administrator will briefly talk to give out testing directions. Students will not be allowed to talk during the test.

Students will have 50 to 90 minutes depending on the section.

No, however scratch paper will be provided.

This is a paper/pencil test for most students. Online testing is also available and will be used in some special circumstances.

Test results will be back within a few weeks.

Grade 3 - Students must pass Reading and Grade 5 students must pass Reading and Math

The scores are suitable for promotion and retention decisions, but are also used for accountability at the school, disctrict, and state level.

Continue to read and sharpen up on math skills.

The make up days are scheduled for May 18-2, 2017.

Encourage them to continue using I-Station and Ten Marks at home to reinforce the standards learned at school.

We strongly encourage yout o make all appointments after 12:00 pm, or reschedule outside the testing window.

Discuss the following strategies:

  • Take several deep breaths, exhaling slowly after each one. Visualize the tension draining from your body as you breathe out.
  • Tense your muscles and hold for 5 seconds, then relax. Repeat 3 times.
  • Think of a peaceful, quiet setting (e.g., the beach). Imagine yourself calm and relaxed in that setting.

 Some items may be more difficult than waht are used to seeing in class. Just relax and do your personal best.

Listen to the teacher carefully as they are reading the directions, then make sure they are using their test taking skills and doing exactly what they have learned in class.
