Proving that customs don’t need to be as old as the hills to be accepted, Thailand’s Monkey Buffet Festival has grown year on year since its inception in 1989 when a local hotelier came up with the idea to boost tourism.

The temples of Lopburi (two hours by road north of Bangkok) are festooned with mountains of fruit and vegetables – even cakes – and the local population of macaques is allowed to feast. People dress like monkeys, while monkey art decorates the streets.

 FIJI!
Welcome to the strange world of traditions aimed at arriving guests. In the Pacific Ocean paradise of Fiji, where palm trees crown islands ringed with white sands, islanders ply newcomers with kava.

Made by squeezing the juices from a local root, the concoction tastes as muddy as it looks. Served in a bucket or wooden bowl, kava is eagerly lapped up by locals as well as many visitors who get a taste for the strange earthy cocktail.

It will numb your tongue (perhaps even your face), make your gums feel fuzzy and probably send you off to sleep. It’s also rude to refuse it.

A) Henna was created just for fun

B)Henna was created to idolize a false god

C) Henna was used to cool skin, but stained it causing it to be used for decorative purpose

D)Henna was invented by a false God who wanted the world to be ornate, and created henna to be used as a natural paint

Henna comes from india, pakistan, and africa and the middle east.

The art of henna (called mehndi in Hindi & Urdu) has been practiced for over  5000 years in Pakistan, India, Africa and the Middle East. There is some documentation that it is over 9000 years old.  Because henna has natural cooling properties, people of the desert, for centuries, have been using henna to cool down their bodies.  They make a paste of henna and soak their palms and soles of the feet in it to get an air conditioning affect.  They feel its cooling sensation throughout the body for as long as the henna stain remains on their skin.  Initially, as the stain faded away, it left patterns on the skin it was drawn on, which led to ideas to make designs for decorative purposes.  In the ancient Egyptian times mummies wore henna designs and it is documented that Cleopatra herself used henna for decorative purposes.
